Australian Influence

Australia has a long and successful history of building and operating retirement villages. It is the pleasure of Sunshine Village to introduce this fun and exciting way of living to the large market of active seniors in Japan.

Retirement Village influencers from Australia

For the launch of Sunshine Village in Japan, we will invite retirement village residents from Australia to live in our newly constructed villages as "influencers". This colourful campaign will be an effective way to educate Japan as to "what is a retirement village"?

Australians or "Aussies" the world over are famous for their easy-going and friendly attitude. Of course food, events, art and history are all vital parts of the Australian culture, but what really distinguishes an Aussie is his or her friendly and laid-back outlook on life. It's the way neighbours will share a bottle of wine sitting outside on a sunny afternoon. It's the reason you'll hear the words "no worries, mate" exchanged between strangers. Most of all, Australians are wonderful at putting aside stress to appreciate the good things in life that are right in front of you.

For Aussies, a stranger is just a mate you haven't met yet. Mateship is the beating heart of the Australian spirit. They pride themselves on being good friends and neighbours, and not just to people they know. They warmly greet everyone from the shop attendant to the taxi driver with a "g'day"or "how ya going?". For Australians, this emphasis on mateship creates a cheery, welcoming attitude in a retirement village, and one that says anyone can be a mate.

Sunshine Village Living - The Australian Way

Sunshine Village architect Robert Caulfield has designed an Australian style retirement village with lovely, modern and spacious homes which is essential to the happiness and success of independent living.

A purpose built Clubhouse with function rooms, bar, restaurant, cafe and fitness facilities will provide residents with the facilities to promote social connectedness and better wellbeing.

Robert works within nature and has retained tree coverage where possible so that lush greenery provides a pleasant space cushion between each of the units. Walking and bicycle paths circumnavigate the village and a number of shared outdoor barbecue areas provide popular communal spaces for both recreation and entertainment.

Love of Food, Drink and Good Times

Celebrating with friends, family and the broader community around a shared table is an integral part of both the Australian and Japanese culture. At Sunshine Village we will promote and encourage a variety of social opportunities that celebrate life.

Sharing a meal or a drink with a group of friends either outdoors or within the comfort of the clubhouse is one of the great joys of residing in an Australian style retirement village.

Made in Australia

At Sunshine Village we plan to promote the best of Australian red and white wines, craft beers, beef, lamb, seafood, teas and of course acknowledge Melbourne's diverse coffee culture.

Japan is one of Australia's most supportive trade partners and it is possible consume a range of Australian products in Japan. Australia is recognised as a reliable producer of clean, green and safe food which we at Sunshine Village will passionately support via our food our beverage outlets.

Australia by design

We are proud of our Australian heritage and we are excited to display this affection throughout our villages with both decoration and design. Beautiful framed images of Australia's magnificent landscapes, scenery, seasons, iconic animals and national celebrations will decorate Sunshine Village's shared facilities. Australia and Japan have developed a wonderful friendship via tourism, trade, defense and have many shared interests which we are delighted to promote.

The architectural design of all of our cottages are based on a successful Australian model home with a fresh and open plan design which invites in bright, natural light from outside.

Japan-Australia Exchange Program

Sunshine Village will develop close affiliations with some Australian based retirement villages so possible exchanges of "silver retirees and homes" can take place for periods of up to a maximum of 3 months.

Imagine the joy and excitement for village residents practicing both English and Japanese greetings as they introduce themselves to each other at various social and sporting events.

Silver exchange participants will have an opportunity to take part in language and culture classes both prior to departure and also after arriving overseas.

Such exchanges will create many new strong friendships and fond memories as both Japanese and Australians are famous for their local hospitality and generosity. It's never too late to learn something new, and a "silver exchange" between Sunshine Village and an Australian retirement village will provide this opportunity!
