Japan Town Living

The management team of Sunshine Village has access to thousands of active seniors who live in retirement villages throughout Australia. Many of these seniors are excited to try living in Japan for a "long stay". Sunshine Village is seeking partnerships with suitable towns in Japan that are ready to provide the support, accommodation, activities and hospitality required to ensure that our Australian seniors have a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

A tourist visa for Japan permits a stay for a maximum of 90 days. A Japanese town may like to promote their town for a stay of two weeks up to three months

We encourage towns, prefectures and regions to work together in securing the "long stay" market.
Australian seniors may rotate every few weeks to a new town and get to enjoy a range of new foods, culture, sightseeing, sports, landscapes and experiences.

Growth through success

Successful visits would create valuable word of mouth referrals and excellent publicity in the media for our Japan "long stay" program to expand. Australian active seniors would be very lucrative visitors to lure to a Japanese town as they would immediately spend money in the community to provide new revenues leading to town rejuvenation.

Australian seniors are financially comfortable and very passionate about food. They will take great pride in generously supporting the local producers, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Japan has no greater friend than Australia and we at Sunshine Village believe our active seniors via a successful long stay program can strengthen the close bond between our countries.

Japanese towns welcome Aussie seniors

The successful hosting of Australian seniors will require an effort from the entire community. The local tourism office will need to create a help desk for various translation assistance and problem solving from time to time. Consideration within a town will need to be given to various signage which may require an English display. Restaurants will need to prepare English menus and display windows so our active Australian seniors can easily order meals.

Active Australian Seniors are seeking the following

  • Support - problem solving with the assistance of a liaison officer
  • Accommodation - this may be in the form of vacant homes or apartments part of a larger complex. Facilities required include western bedding, western toilet, high speed internet, cable television and a basic furnished kitchen
  • Activities - friendship exchange events, language classes, crafts, sports, sightseeing
  • Hospitality - charming locals, warm smiles and new friendships.
